Obioma the Kind Girl is a 36-page story that is supposedly for children. However the selected subject matter of love and marriage renders this work non-suitable for children. Although the book insists on the importance of such didactic virtues like hard work, honesty and respect, yet the location of fruits of these virtues as blissful marriage to abroad-based husband detracts from the seriousness of thematic thrusts.
Hence this book is located within the ambiance of popular culture or Onitsha market literature whose singular aim is to moralise.
