Chinencherem is a 97-paged novelette that moralizes on the unstable nature of existence, hence one should not move about with so much confidence concerning the future. In order to illustrate this stroke of native wisdom, the author creates stereotypic characters who rise and fall at necessary times.
Thus Chinecherem, though a child of very wealthy couple sudeenly finds herself becoming a housemaid as her parents' fortunes reversed. Her parents, along with her, learn bitter lessons from humiliation. At the end, their fortunes reverse once again and they find themselves rich, but wiser, once again.
